Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Sol H — 16 Aug 2008
I really don't think I'll ever take to costume drama, but there's no denying Kubrick's consistent genius in this film. It's a masterfully made movie which only really suffers due to a slightly unnecessary running time. It's certainly my favourite costume drama to date, but I'm not sure if I've actually seen any others.
Personal enjoyment: 7/10.
Actual quality as a film: 9/10.
