A beautifully slow film, Kubrick's use of natural light is amazing. What 2001 did for the special effect, this film did for the standard shot. I warn you this is a long movie, a little over 3 hours.

So be ready, but if you can sit through it, it is amazing. Many top critics and directors pick it as their favorite Kubrick film; It would be hard to disagree, like it is hard to pick just one. But I think I would say mine is The Shining.

But this one is right up there.
