Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by George K — 07 Jan 2014

I think this may be Kubrick's best movie. Watching it was analogous to reading a really good book and not being able to put it down. I had to pause it midway and I could not wait to go back and finish the DVD.

A true masterpiece. It highlights human reality as sad as that may be at times. It's definitely dark humor. It's a simple story, and seems so disconnected from reality and yet you can totally understand the characters and you get a sense that they are real or at least there were people very much like them back in that period.

Flawed, careless, just humans being humans at that time.
