Review of Barfly (1987) by Arseniy V — 29 May 2011
I can't really say if I found this story really great or really sad, It's loaded with humorus elements but few does it for me. For me this film is all Rourke doing a superb role. It's quite an entertaining piece - never boring or slow, involving heavy drinking and nightlife, but there is not much more in it for me.
The dialogue is quite cool and I love the way Rourke speak, even if it get's on my nerves after a while. It's putting the bar attending life-style to the maximum and to a certain degree I could relate to some elements. A good film to have a drink to I guess, but with or without alcohol - it will either way be forgotten pretty fast.
