Review of Barbarella (1968) by Andrew B — 21 Aug 2008
Barbarella is a 1968 classic.
This movie is a cult , fantasy, comedy, adventure film. It's about a sexy woman who is sent to the future, to find and stop the torturous ways of the evil Durand - Durand.
I adore this movie. Jane Fonda was perfect in this role, she really was stunning back then. What's not to like? Seducing an Angel, women smoking the "essence" of man, an evil whacked out queen, the futuristic love making ways, or the flesh eating demon dolls- that are all the rage with the children of tomorrow...
This movie definitely has some bizarre, fabulously twisted moments.
Sure, the effects do have a certain Gorgonzola inspired flavor, and some of the acting is less than stellar. But, I believe that is part of this movie's charm.
Being how I have a slightly skewed view of things, I have unambiguous feelings towards this film's luminosity!
