Review of Bangkok Dangerous (2008) by Chosen 7 — 09 Jun 2010
Most people would write this off as another bad remake of an Asian cult-hit film and the casting of Nicolas Cage as the main character doesn't help that perception much, however this actually turned out to be a decent film which is actually more entertaining and well-done than the original [which was overrated IMO].
This film was directed by the creators of the original [Oxide and Danny Pang]...so the style is almost the same but brought up a notch for a wider audience base. Good cinematography, decent action sequences and pacing.
Good performances by Nicolas Cage and Shahkit Yamnarm. Overall it's very predictable but somewhat compelling, it's an interesting action/crime-drama about redemption but it's still lacking at too many points to redeem itself.
