Review of Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) by Brenden S — 11 Oct 2018
More a character driven piece, the seeming aim was to smash this diverse cast of characters together and watch the wreckage. It's more a matter of enjoying the journey than reaching the destination with this one and a bunch of interesting characters with unique motivations and unexpected ties keeps your attention at all times.
Couple this with an exercise in creating tension and you've got an ultimately enjoyable experience that will leave you pleased with thr overall experience. The end wasn't what I was predicting, yet was certainly expected.
Which may be this films most glaring fault for me. A plot thread from early on seems to have no payoff and leaves the climax falling flat.
