Review of Bad Day at Black Rock (1955) by Paavo L — 09 Jan 2010
MGM battles the upstart media of the time, TV, with Cinemascope and Stereophonic sound and Spencer Tracy sans his left arm. We're with Tracy from the get-go, given his (filmic) pedigree, and the nearly all-male childless backwater he alights upon.
.. the presence of Borgnine & Marvin make it clear something ain't quite right. BDABR is a little slow out of the gate, but from the moment McReedy and shithead Ryan have a chat at the pumps, you're in for some real 50s socially-conscious fun.
