Review of Bad Day at Black Rock (1955) by Matthew L — 02 Apr 2014
A classic modern day Western that preempts the western standard popularised in the 70's of the stranger entering town and cleaning it up, by almost 20 years. Easily one of Tracy's best roles, though I must admit my knowledge of his body of work is limited.
Great support from Robert Ryan, as the man running the town, and Borgnine and Lee Marvin as his goons. A brilliantly measured piece of cinema with a slow build that you just don't seem to get these days.
