Set in Puritan Denmark in the mid-1850's, an inconnue chef/political exilee arrives to "help" two older women. She wins the lottery (or something like it) and prepares a feast the likes of which the Puritans have never seen.
Although they agree "not to enjoy it" because they fear she's a witch trying to tempt them into sin, the town can't help but give into their passions and appreciate the unique experience she provides.
A laconic, beautiful film.
