Review of Babette's Feast (1987) by Gina S — 23 Aug 2008
If you are a foodie or love to cook you will enjoy this movie. It is a movie about giving. Babette is an exiled chef living in a bleak country with people who pride themselves in their religious discipline and stoic rejection of pleasure.
Babette comes into some unexpected money and gifts her host and friends a meal. She cooks for them her world renowned signature meal. Then for a brief evening these people come alive and realize that it is OK to experience the pleasures God has provided.
