How many pigs have you heard about that win a sheepherding contest? Thatâ(TM)s right, a pig, not a dog! Babe is one amazing pig. This film takes off right away with what made him famous. Babe was known worldwide for his victory.

In this film, Babe, voiced by Elizabeth Daily, lives on a comfy farm with his owner, Farmer Arthur Hoggett, played by James Cromwell, and his wife, Esme Cordelia Hoggett, played by Magda Szubanski He got letters from all over the world inviting him to places like London.

Although Babe and his boss, Farmer Arthur, could go to any place they chose, they stayed on the Farm. A lot of work had to be done, like fixing the well. Farmer Arthur was inside the well when Babe thought he could help.

Lets just say it wasnâ(TM)t a good idea. The Farmer was soon sent to the hospital and the only one left to work on the farm was his wife, Esme. Soon people from the bank came and told the farmer and his wife that they were behind on the bills and they would lose the farm.

They needed to save farm. Luckily they remembered that Babe can enter the state fair and could win the prize money to save the farm. The excitement begins! Babe and the farmerâ(TM)s wife, Esme fly to the state fair.

Unfortunately, they do not make it far and they end up missing their connecting flight, which makes things interesting. Most of this film takes place in Metropolis, dream like city when colorful buildings, people, and animals.

Along the way to a âpet friendlyâ? hotel, they find some unusual people and animals. The animals are dressed up in interesting costumes and I found it amusing to see them play different characters. For example one monkey acted like a gangster, and one dog in pink fur was most definitely a ballerina.

Babe meets good friends, friendly animals, and ofcourse the âbad guysâ?. Esme and Babe experience danger, comedy, and drama through out their adventures. My favorite scene was when Babe and all of his animal âfriendsâ? sing to the new born monkeys.

This youâ(TM)ve got to see- they sing together and many donâ(TM)t know the words. My favorite character is a goose names Ferdinand. Danny Mann voiced Ferdinand. Ferdinand called Babe his âLucky Pigâ?.

When Babe left for the city, Ferdinand, the goose followed him. Although Ferdinand did not have a large role, he was funny and stuck to is plan of staying with Babe plus every time he spoke his voice make me laugh.

I give this movie 3 stars and a big OINK to all all of the animal trainers and animals. I would recommend Babe: Pig in the City to ages 4 and up. Although there is a couple of scenes that might be scary and make you jump out of your seat, it keeps your attention.

Parents would enjoy watching this with their children. The message is clear: treat others the way you want to be treated and you can accomplish great things. Review by Jennifer Huntoon, age 14, KIDS FIRST! Film Critic.
