Review of Azumi (2003) by Moviestar M — 09 Mar 2007
Several movies in one; some good, some bad..

It took me about fifteen minutes to get into Azumi; around the time I stopped trying to figure out the mood. You've got scenes of tragedy, comedy, action, and romance... all packed together in any random ten minutes of the movie. It's sorta disorienting.
However, if you can get past that, there's a decent martial arts b-movie in there. Wacky and engaging characters, cheesy-but-passable fighting, good amount of blood n' gore. You could definitely do worse..
The only reason I give this a four instead of a five or a six is because of the muddled lack-of-focus feeling Azumi left me with..
