Review of Awaydays (2009) by Kevin C — 26 Sep 2009
A game of 2 halves this one. The opening is pretty good capturing 1979 England, and the industrial desolation on Merseyside. People are bored, have no future; hooliganism offers something in their lives.
Unfortunately it then peters out a bit. The major plot development has been signposted a 100 times, and you get a bit tired waiting for it to happen. And I think the director wanted to make "Control" or "Backbeat" a bit too much.
Excellent original soundtrack though, without the predictable tracks you'd expect.
The (original) Firm is still the only football holliogan film worth watching.
