Review of Awakenings (1990) by Curtis H — 31 Mar 2008
It's a fantastic film with incredible performances by Robert De Niro and Robin Williams. This film explores themes of life and appreciating those things about us that make us human.
De Niro should have won an academy award for his performance as Leonard Lowe, a chronic patient that suffers from Encephalitis. He is absolutely believable and is the character. This movie is worth seeing for the scene between him and Penelope Ann Miller in the cafeteria. It's one of the most powerful scenes in film history.
Not to mention, this has a very true satire of the medical industry.
Highly recommended!!!!
