Review of Awakenings (1990) by Lynda M — 16 Nov 2009
This is one of my favorite movies ever. It incredible that it is based on a true story, but it would still be a great movie even if it was completely fiction. After I saw the movie, I read the book, and became a fan of the writing of Oliver Sacks (the doctor the Robin Williams character is based on).
Interestingly, Awakenings, Dead Poet's Society, and The Fisher King all star Robin Williams in dramatic roles, and each one deals with a form of mental illness.
