Even with Ingmar Bergman directing I didn't think a film about a mother and daughter reconnecting could be so compelling and emotionally involving. You are immediatly pulled in by a short break in the 4th wall, and when the old problems resuface between mother and daughter you can't look away.

The acting is some of the best I've seen, and it's a heartbreaking film, that stays with you.
