Review of Australia (1989) by Divya J — 13 Nov 2011
I had low expectations going into this one, the only reason I watched it was because of Baz Luhrman. I was quite surprised to find I actually enjoyed, the scenery and cinematography are fantastic, the lead actors or decent and it's a decent story.
It is long, but a throwback to classic epics like Gone with the Wind and Lawrence of Arabia, obviously not as good, but that's the type of film they were going for and you don't see that often these days so that was nice to see. Something other than the typical quick edits and extreme violence of so many films recently.
So, not a great film but worth a watch.
