Review of Au Revoir les Enfants (1987) by Hugo G — 15 Aug 2007
A subtle epic with exquisite camera shots and lighting. The acting is beyond adequate despite the youthful age of both boys. A passionate and painful story of a French boy and a Jewish boy living in a somewhat posh Catholic boarding school.
Both become friends and learn the truth of acceptance and understanding. This takes place during WWII and has an extremely noir flavor that will remain with the viewer for a very long time. This is my favorite movie of all-time.
