Review of Au Hasard Balthazar (1966) by Tony A — 09 Dec 2007
Along with Bergman's Cries and Whispers the most spiritually profound and trascendent film I've ever seen. I can't even begin to explain the greatness or describe the power and depth of this movie.
This is what spiritual cinema is all about. Robert Bresson captures the essence of existence with a donkey (!) and the human condition, its limitations and possibility for trascendence are reflected on the animal.
Not only cinema, but art of the highest order.
