Review of Au Hasard Balthazar (1966) by Jeans P — 29 Jun 2013
One of the most over rated films I've ever seen. Still has qualities though, the shattered family and how a figure/symbol (the donkey) is seemingly unaffected by the turbulent environment is innovative and philosophical.
But I didn't care about a single character ever. Apparently Haneke is greatly inspired by the works of Bresson and this film in particular, which I totally understand.
