Review of Au Hasard Balthazar (1966) by Jareth S — 13 Nov 2010
Anne Wiazemsky is haunting in this and it has some really good cinematography. It just didn't work for me and I don't buy into all this 'blank slate' nonsense about the donkey.
So far, I only like one of the director's trademark Bresson-ian films (PICKPOCKET) and one before he'd adopted this style of filmmaking (LES DAMES DU BOIS DE BOULOGNE).
