Review of Au Hasard Balthazar (1966) by Ryan P — 06 Apr 2013
''Robert Bresson is one of the saints of the cinema, and 'Au Hasard Balthazar' (1966) is his most heartbreaking prayer.'' - Roger Ebert.
The film is about the plight of the miserable, helpless creations of God; no matter human or animal. To ruthless people, they are just objects for making mockery on, and inflicting torture and humiliation. It's a very sad film, one of the most heartbreaking in cinema. Must-not-miss. P.S: His ''Mouchette'' is an excellent companion piece!
