Review of Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) by Sam K — 10 Jul 2010
I remember watching this movie when I was five and laughing my ass off. Watching it ten years later made me realize how mature the theme is compared to, say... Lilo and Stitch. The drawings were fascinating, like Miyazaki fascinating. Don't see why critics have it crap, though, the story wasn't original,(The begginin was good, though.). But in the end it turned out to be kinda cliche'd. Like Pochahontas cliche'. Hell, this and Pochahontas were like sister movies. Same plot, different setting and characters. Infact, Avatar ripped both these movies off BIG time. The more. I think about this movie, the more I want to go hunt through my VHS tape collection so I can watch it again. It was that intriguing.
In short, think of this as the Pochahontas with balls and the Avatar with brains.
