Review of Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) by Jose Gabriel R — 29 Mar 2013
Probably one of the most underrated films ever, "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" is a gem: ambitious and action-packed with unique animation (based on the style of Mike Mignola) and a darker, more mature approach than the usual Disney film.
It's full of funny and interesting characters but the story and the action are the core of the movie. The development of the characters (except Milo and Kida) is not extensive, but the team of explorers is charming and the villains believable: it works.
The heart of the film relies on the story, the central characters and the action, which includes sequences that remain some of the greatest pieces of animation I've ever seen. With a great, epic feeling of adventure, "Atlantis" is an amazing film that's, sadly, very underrated.
