Review of At the End of Daybreak (2009) by Mattias E — 03 Jun 2010
With it's downbeat theme and disagreeable characters, Ho Yuhang's At The End Of Daybreak is not an easy film to digest. But at the same time, it's the flaws that make the characters human, and as we recognize their selfishness, mendacity and cowardice as our own, At The End Of Daybreak hits home on a truly visceral level.
The cast, with ex-Shaw Brothers nymphette Kara Hui in the lead, is a genuinely powerful source for director Ho to tap into.
