Review of At Eternity's Gate (2018) by Kate W — 31 Dec 2018
Exceptionally insightful movie into the life of Vincent Van Gogh, very cinematic, very painterly, hardly the stuff of unexplored thematic content, and yet Willem Dafoe's astonishing performance makes it all very worthwhile.
One caveat: a most annoying and intrusive soundtrack, so many crashing loud chords where something in the style of a Debussy or a Satie would have been much more appropriate to the content of the film.
