Review of At Eternity's Gate (2018) by Moviemitch96 — 23 Dec 2018
In this biopic, Willem Dafoe plays Vincent van Gogh, and I must say that he embodies him and his attention to detail and beauty very well. However, the cinematography was rather clumsy and awkward to me, as it shook around and seemed very unfocused quite a bit, and while this seemed to be deliberate in order to express van Gogh's mental state throughout the film, it simply proved a little too distracting for my liking.
Overall, it's pretty standard in terms of a biopic, but the always reliable Dafoe really does turn in a highly realized and detailed look at the iconic painter, making it just worthwhile enough.
