Review of Aśoka (2001) by Amaresh C — 18 Jun 2012
It's a visual treat... fantastic cinematography, equally matched with the background scores. Asoka is truly an epic movie of epic proportions. The final battle is my best scene ancient warfare on screen.
The work of SRK, Kareena and the rest of the cast is commendable, SRK probably delivers one of his best performances. Santosh Sivan has own my heart by his emotional, touchy, serene and elegant depiction of one of the greatest emperors the world has ever seen.
I'll deviate a bit from the praise because I was not amused by some of the song sequences, which I thought were unnecessary and obstructed the free flow of the film. Otherwise, I love the film each and every time I see it and would definitely recommend it to all and everyone who likes good art work in cinema.
