Review of Arrival (2016) by Dominic D — 07 Mar 2017
To a "what if," event. No malevolent alien monsters from outer space; no robots nor aliens out to destroy or even harvest earth; no epic battles with aliens on a global scale - no lovable and cute creatures from the stars. Just a straight forward account of what could logically happen if, and or when E.T. comes around. The narrative in the plot was straight forward, and the drama of the protagonist(s) came with psychological, philosophical, and metaphysical content that if one was not paying attention the plot could be easily lost upon one.
If one is looking for a movie filled with destruction and mayhem involving aliens, this perhaps movie is not for you. If one expects to visually experience a close encounters "what if," then perhaps this movie finally 'arrived,' for you.
