Review of Arizona Dream (1993) by Scott R — 08 Nov 2017
Arizona Dream's overwhelming artsyness and unique style stands real close to being obnoxious...but my goodness, it's just so darn charming. I can confidently say I've never seen a movie quite like this.
Gallo's weirdly hilarious obsession with North by Northwest, the meta-commentary on Depp himself, the questions about where the film's reality actually exists. It's surreal, crazy, and bursting with Lychian-lite life, whose oddities work so well by erring on the side of hilarity instead of pretension.
