Review of Argo (2012) by Allen H — 17 Oct 2014
This film with all its award nominations and Academy Award win for best picture was not what I expected... in a good way. I was vaguely familiar with the plot, so I was expecting an intense political thriller/drama.
However, the film uses a beautiful mix of comedy (mostly from Alan Arkin and John Goodman) and drama (ala The Monuments Men) to bring forth this intriguing and crazy hostage rescue. Once again Ben Affleck has done a great job directing and doing his homework for this period piece.
Great performance by Bryan Cranston.
