Review of Appaloosa (2008) by Jeff Z — 30 Jun 2009
I cannot think of a western that has come out in 2000's that I don't like and this one is definitely in that category. It holds true to traditional western style and plot while adding a new element to the genre: drama.
There is very little action in this wild, wild western and I love it. The chemistry between Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen continues to shine in this entertaining film. As a pair of hired guns the two men move into a town to protect it from the bad guys.
Okay, nothing we haven't heard of before. What's this? An introduced romance? Alright, I can dig it. Whoa! Guns! Awesome! Oh man, this is intense... and fun! Appaloosa is a hit. Replay Value: 3.
