Review of Appaloosa (2008) by Sean G — 15 Jul 2009
Feelings get you killed.
In 1882, in the lawless town of Appaloosa, a murderous rancher named Randall Bragg is a thorn of the community, but no one is able to bring him to justice. In a desperate attempt for a more peaceful life, the town elders hire two roaming mercenaries to help them with their problem. Lawman Virgil Cole becomes marshal of the town and appoints his trusted friend, Everett Hitch, to deputy. As the town begins to come under control thanks to Virgil and Everett, a train brings a new woman to town. Her name is Allie French and Virgil takes a liking to her. He uses his influence to land her a job at a tavern as a piano player and the two quickly form a relationship. The lawmen manage to subdue Randall Bragg and he is tried. They are tasked with bringing him to his execution spot, but even though this murderer is in chains, he is not finished with this town yet. The two six-shooting peacemakers are going to have their hands full and blood will be spilled in Appaloosa.
"Life has a way of making the foreseeable that which never happens... and the unforeseeable that which your life becomes.".
