Review of Appaloosa (2008) by Aaron B — 20 Sep 2009
Directed by the star himself (Ed Harris), and with a superb cast, this is a very authentic western reminiscent of some of the classics. I'd say that over time, this could be listed as one of the new classics - which include Tombstone, Wyatt Earp, The Proposition, and (Costner's masterpiece) Open Range.
Harris and Mortensen make a memorable team, similar in a way to Butch and Sundance (Paul Newman and Robert Redford's unforgettable characters from 1969). Also, as always Mortensen is very compelling to watch onscreen. He was a real standout, but this is also a real ensemble of sensational actors and talents.
