Ed Harris delivers on a slick style that truly respects and conveys western archetypes, accompanied by good performances from himself Mortenson, and Irons. Unfortunately, a rather borish and disatisfying plot, along with only mildly interesting characters, prevents Appaloosa from being the great and honorable western it could have been.
