Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Jimmy B — 11 Jul 2014
The best film ever made. period. best sounding film ever made. first movie in full 5.1 surround sound(then called dolby stereo surround, or "split surround") anyone who disagrees with this just doesnt understand the magnitude of of this film.
movies dont have to be nor should be action packed from start to finish, the second half certainly isnt full of action, it delves into the horrors of war and the human mind. hell in this movie someone metaphorically turns into a dog! (next time you watch, pay attention to lance after he gets the dog, then once he says "where'd that dog go?" he has next to no dialogue for the rest of the film(an hour at least) except random animal sounds in one scene.
and notice how he follows willard around like a little puppy at kurtz' compund. notice when they capture , lance just wanders around aimlessly and no one pays attention as if he were a stay animal.
sorry for the rant, just saw lots of people who dont appreciate amazing films.
