I used to like Mike Leigh. But I completely lost my heart watching this film. The actors and the directing are excellent but the last season "winter" made me understand why I did not want to live in England.
David Bradley is the most depressing character I've ever seen. I started to think of age, time, wrinkles, slums, Englsih suburbs, death, children and their indifference. He did not say a word and his eyes showed me all I did not want to see: the uselessness of life.
Sinister.
