Review of Another Year (2010) by Jake M — 08 Aug 2014
This is a wonderful character study from Mike Leigh. It's not just about a happily married older couple and the people they are surrounded by, but it's also a portrait of the quiet resignation that they all have subjected themselves to and how they deal with it.
Some rather well (the Hepples and their son), some not so much (everyone else). This movie has the feel of a well-written play and the actors really do disappear into their roles. View this one if you really dig movies that put an emphasis on ensemble acting and well-written characters.
