Review of Another Year (2010) by Robin T — 03 Jul 2011
A charming little film about a year in the life of a happily married couple, Tom & Gerri and their family and friends. You meet Gerri's co-worker, Mary, their son, Joe and their friend, Ken. Mary has eyes for Joe, but Tom & Gerri are hoping to fix her up with Ken. Mary is her own worst enemy, by spurning Ken's advances to hold out hopes of winning Joe. Joe meets girlfriend, Katie and Mary's hopes are dashed.
This movie is about ordinary people and how they are shaped by their relationships. You feel like you're peeking into the windows of a neighbor's house. These people share the human condition that runs through all our lives. We should strive to be like Tom & Gerri who live simple lives, but are significant influences in the lives of those they love.
