Another Year is a painfully honest and truly wonderful ode to life and relationships. Mike Leigh gave the characters enough space to express themselves and evoke a deep feeling of empathy in the viewer.

This 2-hour long film -- although it relies more on dialog and the state of being than on actual events -- doesn't even begin to drag at any point, but instead gradually charges you with emotion until its beautifully bitter ending.

The scene in which Mary and Ronnie meet must be one of the most beautiful and touching scenes in the history of drama, and Leslie Manville was nothing short of perfect. The sweet folky music by Gary Yershon who succeeded in perfectly moving with the flow of the drama was also quite memorable.
