Review of Annihilation (2018) by Orcflesh — 17 Mar 2018
This would have died at the box office, not because as some reviews suggest because its too avant garde ...but because its boring.
The characters are expendable and are devoid of any personality.
These are supposed to be intellegent people, but there decisions make no sense.
The actors try their best with a terrible script, but for all their efforts they cant salvage anything.
The story is predictable and formulaic.
The indoor sets are low quality, which is a stark contrast to the great open locations.
The green screen and CGI are poor in general throughout the movie, but more care seems to have gone into the effects in the climax.
There seems to be a trend among 'professional' reviewers at the moment, where anything they can latch onto and call cerebral is touted as a new dawn in cinema and a modern classic.
