Review of Annihilation (2018) by Jordan H — 15 Nov 2018
Sci fi for thinkers who can tolerate - and indeed enjoy - ambiguity, nonlinear chronology, unfamiliar ideas and unresolved questions requires an audience with intelligence, curiosity, patience, and an attention span that exceeds that of mainstream audiences who prefer pretentious Star Wars space opera, hokey Star Trek nostalgia mining or the adolescent testosterone-fueled kinetics of the Transformers series.
If yet another over-baked CG retelling of the David vs. Goliath myth with robots, ray guns and REALLY BIG EXPLOSIONS!(TM) is your idea of cutting-edge science fiction, steer clear. This is not for you.
