Review of Annihilation (2018) by Champ S — 11 Nov 2018
It's one of those situations where the idea of this film ended up being a lot better than the execution of it. With a budget of 40 to 50 million one wonders where all the money went? I assume to the CGI department and the talented main actors.
Instead of relying on solid writing, character development, and a worthy plot...the film steeps itself in vagueness and open ended interpretation to what is actually happening. Alex Garland nailed it with Ex Machina.
It's clear he is still figuring out how to actually direct a film.
