Review of Annie Hall (1977) by Joey K — 12 May 2011
Annie Hall is a classic. Its influence can be clearly seen in modern movies like 500 Days of Summer, and other stories about love (distinctly different from love stories). Allen is uniquely talented both as director and actor.
The film features a variety of cinematic strategies and innovative filmmaking, even including animated sequences and split screens. The bulk of the comedy translates perfectly despite over 30 years since it's original release, indicating that Annie Hall will remain a staple comedy/romance classic for generations to come - many of us "need the eggs.
