Review of Annie Hall (1977) by Nicky N — 12 Sep 2014

Annie Hall is a very funny, very poignant, and very interesting, little film that is packed with charm. Diane Keaton is phenomenal and Woody Allen is also good. The writing is very good, as is the direction.

The unique fantastical elements added to this is very interesting and enjoyable. The romance is also interesting and handled elegantly. The only problem I had with it is Alvy's whininess. He is still a well-written character, but he is just so unlikable that it is almost hard to enjoy the film because I hate him so much.

However, the film is good enough to ignore that that negative is acceptable for me. Overall, it is pretty clear why this one is a classic.
