Review of Annie Hall (1977) by Paperaquarium — 05 Sep 2018
Let down. It's okay but nothing special. Whenever I see an Annie Hall poster it drips with personality that isn't present in the actual film. I loved the more surreal scenes e.g. when Annie is phasing out while having sex and there's suddenly two of her- but there weren't many scenes like that, unfortunately.
Also, Woody Allen's character irked me constantly which is weird because I usually love the "neurotic" type that HE coined into cinema! And because I know he's an abusive pedophile, I constantly had this uneasy feeling that I couldn't shake off even with genuine laughter.
Shame. Maybe I had too high expectations.
