Review of Annie (2014) by Badger B — 04 Jan 2015
A saccharine Remake with a pervasive multicultural theme that captures neither the charm nor the energy of the original. Instead of an almost Romeo&Juliet feel of love crossing social barriers (albeit not romantic) of the original, the message seems to be 'money fixes everything' with a distinctly racist undertone. I would not show this movie to my children, as the dog seems to be the best actor and the story has been loaded with the political undertones more common in Hollywood than the Hack screenwriters who create this kind of drivel.
Do yourself a favor, watch the original, show it to your kids. Don't bother with yet another Jamie Foxx 'stick it to da man' vehicle.
