How some people rated this movie so poorly is beyond me.

The acting and the retelling of a classic such as Annie is a monumental task in and of itself, that many have tried, and I might add, without the racial change in the main characters.

Quvenzhane Wallis's performance was a pleasure to watch and to root for her, as Annie , to find her parents was the only difficult part for me, because who would want to leave the wonderful world of Mr.Stacks, played by Jamie Foxx who keeps giving better and better performances in just about every movie he chooses.

Cameron Diaz as Hannigan, her foster parent and Rose Byrne as Grace, Mr.Stacks assistant and as we find out as the story unfolds, his love interest, both gave very adept performances and were fun to watch.

Bobby Cannavale as Guy,Mr.Stacks other assistant and campaign manager was fun to watch also.

But what was so interesting was watching as the last 3 actors I mentioned, leave their comfort zones,by singing and dancing and with success.

Cameron Diaz seems to always surprise me in some of the roles she chooses and she did so once again very pleasantly in Annie.

The old classic was given a fresh new look and feel by placing it in the present time of now instead of the past, and by inserting some of the issues of today, such as interracial relationships, without making those issues the focal point of the story and without taking away from the real story line .

Annie is a retelling of the classic "Little Orphan Annie ",which was ran as a comic strip even before I was a child.

It often had cliffhanger story lines, and dealt with dangerous situations that Little Orphan Annie and her faithful dog Sandy and Daddy Warbucks quite often found themselves in.

I found this re-adaptation to be very entertaining and the children who were in the theater that I watched Annie in were all singing along to the songs and were all smiles and full of happiness as we left after the movie was over.

Sometimes, I think movies should be reviewed by the ones they were made for.

And in the case of this retelling and remaking of Little Orphan Annie, a movie made about and mostly for kids and the kids we once were, it seems that it should reviewed in the spirit in which it was made.
