My family loved this. It occasionally misses the mark but it is entertaining throughout, with a lot of energy in the well put together musical scenes, a mostly great cast with particular note for Quvenzhane Wallis, Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne and Adewale Akkinuoye-Agbaje and an altogether feel good effect.
I expected to hate it and found myself watching the whole thing and caring about the plot and I haven't minded my seven year-old daughter watching it three times over in two days.
